Hello!
Here is my second-ever attempt at mixing someone else's stems. I would appreciate ANY and ALL feedback. I am trying and trying to get better as a mixer. Only you can tell me if I'm doing well.
I took a slightly different approach by toying with the kick drum...added some notes at the start of the song, added sub frequency, and some beater. I didn't change the snare notes, but I omitted some of the snare tracks.
Being a bass player, I could tell instantly that I was up for a challenge to make the bass line cut through. I used the same sub frequency trick. I tried not to make it sound like two bass players. I ducked the bass using the kick.
I also added a little bit of sweetening on the vox for a bit of uniqueness and interest. Hope you like.
Lastly, the part the song after the vox sounded a little dull to me (no offense to guitar player!), so I added a simple shaker track. Let me know if you can tell if is helping or hurting.
