Lindy Hip Big Band: 'Makin' Whoopee'
#1
Just finished version 1,
I know it needs more work like the vocals need more de-essing and overall balance.
Tried to keep it as dynamic as possible as an experiment used waves vocal rider on the brass instead of compression , will have another listen and yours in a couple of days with fresh ears and any feedback and advice is welcome.
Thanks To Bill And the band for sharing !

Cheers Big Grin

Sounds pretty close to me Don, Balance and vocals are good.
The bass and perhaps the kick could be tamed a little and tightened up. Shaking the floor boards in the lounge room.

A good natural sound that I like in this genre. Great start.Smile

I agree with Dave. The bass is a little on the loud side. I like the upper end of it. I think maybe bringing back some of the lows might be all that's needed to put it in the right space. The kick doesn't bother me as much. If the bass opens up some room for it it might be nice to have those dynamic punches. Though I have to admit it feels separated from the rest of the drums. The snare and OH feel further back in the room.

I think the trumpets on the far left might be a little loud on the louder hits. Only occasionally though.

Good work.

G,day Dave ,
Ha ha ha ha that's the idea a new type of earthquake test or a massage therapy lol.
listening back I agree ,might try another reference as used the wave file one on the link which has a deep loose kick helping the bass.
