Hi! - I'm a newbie when it comes to mixing and mastering. If possible, I would really appreciate some constructive feedback. Hope you guys like it. Smile Please keep in mind it was mixed with a flat headphone! Smile

hey Tash.
Your mix sounds well balanced ,can hear some low frequencies on the bass and kick competing for space, for example maybe reducing some boxy upper bass frequencies of the kick around 150-300 hz area to give the bass guitar some space.

uploaded a rough 5 min eqed version to explain what I'm thinking of course the eq on the master bus has effected the bass guitar and the rest of the mix .

Thanks for the feed back! I really appreciate it! Yeah, to be honest I struggled trying to find space for both of them. I ended up doing sidechain compression on the bass hoping it would open some space for the kick, but I noticed that my bass was little compromised whenever I would lower the threshold and raise the ratio "too much" so I had to keep that at a minimum.

I Uploaded a new version reducing those boxy frequencies you've mentioned. I noticed that it made a difference. I can hear the kick and the bass better!

PS: Do you think parallel compression would also help ? I know it's used for making the drums stick out more and to get that punchy feeling. Maybe If I only compressed the kick, snare and toms... that would make the kick pop out a bit more .. I 'm just not quite sure if that would help with the whole finding some space for the instruments thing.
