Wess Meets West - 64 Bristol
#1
Here's version 1 of my mix of this song. I've already abandoned this mix and I've started a new one from scratch. I'm really trying to up my game and this mix wasn't cutting it for me. I'm pretty happy with the direction the drums and bass were going, but I went down a rabbit hole with the guitar tones. Some turned out okay, but multiple layers of extreme EQ created weird resonances that I attempted to fix downstream, but I'd already screwed the pooch. Due to me jumping in and starting to mix before getting organized, my project ended up being a nightmare to navigate, so I finally threw in the towel and started over. I'm trying to get over the fear that I won't be able to repeat my successes if I start over from scratch. My experience has been that it always turns out better the second time around. I never really got around to polishing the vocals, but I did manage to assemble some auto tuned bits for the first vocal section, which I'll be copying into the new project.
