a very special thank you to the super nice people at LEAD Inc!
this is my first approach at The Dice. i used logic pro 9, kept all in the box. i tried to caputre the raw energy of the song, interfering as little as possible with the band's performance - i avoided using too much reverb and didn't use stereo tools or other fancy things, relied heavily on parallel processing and tape saturation. i spent only a little over half an hour mixing and mastering, and another half an hour finetuning, so this one's pretty raw!
hihat (and overheads for that matter) and harsh frequencies in the vocals were quite a bit of a hurdle. i mastered a bit too hot, forgive me some jerkiness coming from the compression - but i'm pretty happy with that mix/master. i really like the recordings, nice base to work on! the vibe kinda reminds me of tool!
i'll give more detailed info regarding plugins etc if someone's interested!
