What I Want (is a good mix)
#1
Well that was fun. Another really well recorded session, though I wish some tracks (keys, rhythm and lead guitars) weren't already consolidated.

My main goal here was clarity. No heavy processing or effects tricks (ok, one, at the end of the breakdown leading into the outro double chorus, and I'm not entirely happy with that). I wanted everything making its contribution but not sticking out until it's called upon; the vocals present but not in your face; and a good stereo field that doesn't break down in mono. I guess "radio-ready" is what I'd call it.

I suspect one of the lead vocal reverbs might be a bit too present, especially during the choruses. And is the snare 'verb too hot as well?

I ended up mixing really low (-18db RMS with a dynamic range around 12), so the mastering chain is mostly adding gain with only about 1db RMS compression, a db or two of soft clipper to tame some snare peaks, and a limiter that maxed out at 2db. Dynamic range at the end is around 9.
