Hi cudjoe.
I like your mix, Good job with the overall balance and controlling the Hi Hat Bleed.
Just the kick sounds distorted which maybe coming from the kick in track.

Cheers

Hi!
What I like
1. Overall balance
2. Vocals
3. Bass - really good job
4. Good Job on the second verse (starts from 0:56) with removing that bass for a moment - nice trick to increase contrast and make things interesting. Love it!

What I think could be done better:
1. Too much cut on the guitars, they don't blend well with the rest of the instruments and sound a bit hollow and too promoted at the same time. If you want to promote something make sure that you've treated it with extra care so it pokes the listener to focus on it, hiding the other things that might not be as important or as well done.
2. Drums - can't hear the kick and snare, it always depends what you're aiming for and what you want to promote, but I think that kick and snare should be more pronounced. I think that you've balanced the guitars, bass and vocals so that they seem to be close to the right levels but the drums are definitely too buried in the mix. I would agree with you on this decision if the drums quality was not so good but they seem to sound really nice on the raw tracks.
3. The song is too bright IMO. I can smell Slate Digital VCC set up too hot (probably the Brit 4k E model Tongue). The brightness is nice but this time i think you've gone a bit too far and it starts to scratch my ears Big Grin
Also I believe that the balance between the low mids and high tones is a bit unsettled. If I can recommend something to help you identify such problems, consider investing in Brainwavz MH3. They are quite cheap and perfectly expose problems in the high end. Use them every time when it comes to mix checks Smile

What I would done but it's my own preference:
I would go even future with the contrast in the second verse and make drums mono, remove some top end from the vocals and guitars so it opens up when the bass comes in Smile

Keep on the good work!
Cheers!

Hi!
Much better, the over brightness is nearly gone and the drum sound much better. Good job!
I would put more energy into the drums (and use more drastic gateing) and less brightness on the guitars but I think we're getting into my own preferences now.
Yet I'm still uncertain about the volume level of the vocals I think they are a bit buried in the mix, but again that's just my taste.

Cheers!
