First ever attempt
#1
Hi everyone. Long time musician, newbie to the world of digital recording and mixing. Thought I would have a bash.

I've concentrated on getting a commercial type sound and have pulled stuff out of the mix and moved stuff about a bit to try to make it easier to listen to.

Upon first listen, there was an awful lot going on in there, some of which didn't really seem to compliment the song.

My biggest challenge? The guitar riff theme... very 'weedy' sound and I fattened it up as best as I could with limited knowledge of parallel compression. I also interwove a bit of another riff in with it so that it didn't sound so out on it's own or in competition with the complimentary guitars.

I did this in an evening at the PC and the one thing I am not yet up to speed on is mastering, so I may have squashed it a bit trying to up the RMS. Sorry!
