I edited everything

I separated the distorted gtrs parts from the clean gtr parts to new trks for better control over tones and volume.

I used the DI for the bass and added chorus in the verse part for a retro feel.

I changed the KD, SN and toms with samples

EZD 2 Metal Big Crack Kit

This is the best I can get this song, Im not sure what else to throw at it.

This is definitely one of those cases of "Make Do and Mend".

I like your use of effects ,I think a little more air on the top end especially on the snare sound nice.
Maybe a touch less master compression
Good job on a challenging mix .
Cheers

Thank you for your kind words. I could see how a brighter snare would help clear up this mix. I have been trying for a while to find a good balance with using compression and I think I getting closer with every mix.

Im experimenting with staging my master buss compression by using several compressors in a row while slightly setting the threshold and ratio on each until I get a nice transparent compression.

Compression is such an important and overused tool, in so much as it has the ability to center things nicely in the mix and hold it together. However it can easily wreak a mix with too much saturation.

Anyway, thanks again for the feedback and advice, happy mixing.

Cheers.
