Alan Evans Trio - I'm Coming Home FULL version
#1
Hi there,

Actually this was not a hard mix for me to do and I'm satisfied anyway Big Grin

I LOVE to mix funk and jazz-funk especially when there's a Hammond in the mix (maybe while I play the Hammond myself?)

Tried to keep as MUCH as possible of the original dynamics, added tape where necessary, together with some extra ingredients the mixing was a big pleasure, Alan Evans Trio gents...

Wonderful song! Wink

Upload is 192Kbit, so not the best quality.

Good over-all volume on the master. It is tough not to suffer the phasing of the cymbals from the bleed into Alan's vocal mic and this suffers those effects badly, I'm afraid. However, once you get past that artifact the mix is great and hops with some good added environmentals.

Hi Cloud,

Thank you so much for your comments.
But how to handle thos terrible phasing effects, I remember well (this song was a dragon to mix) it seems OH are setup close to the kit and the phase problem mainly is caused by the bleed on vocals mic. This left only one thing what could be done right: Mix again from scrap, that's exactly what I did and I think I nailed the phase problem anyhow Big Grin
Did some ducking too, hope you all like this V2 version better than the first

Cheers,
Luc

I think I like your first mix better. The energy is better. So let the leakage go. It is a live recording.
