You have to make a lot of compromises to how you want a singular instrument to sound, versus how the tones of the other instruments are affected when you change the quality of the instrument. Start just by throwing your faders up and getting your hands dirty. Listen to the piece and it should tell you to what kind of processing it needs.

Have fun mixing!

This song definitely takes a lot of listening, especially the drums. Singing and playing and the interplay of his vocal mic with his set are a challenge to match. Imaging of the drums for me was helped by the room mics and the over-heads all of which were well recorded.

I might add the players and the recordings of the guitar and Hammond were so good, very little added attention to those instruments was needed through the mix. Set the pans, levels and hit play, thank you very much.

The organ bass was another story. Good luck with that.
