Hi Guys. I'm like seven years late!
I plugged in my old Firewire hard drive in and opened up the session. I just listened the old mix here and I would also go "yeah, seems like I added a kick sample and just used that".
Well, to my amazement, IT IS the original kick drum! It has quite a lot of EQ on it and I did indeed add some AMS-style gated reverb.
The snare does indeed have a sample next to the real one; it's one of my early attempts at creating a "snare ambience sample". It's an actual snare room sample from my collection to which I've added some reverb.
I agree the guitars especially in the verse are way too quiet. I think the reason why I didn't add any reverb to guiters was because the guitars spill into the drum mics; maybe I reasoned they'd double as my guitar room mics.
Edit: yeah, no replacements on Toms either.
