i think its safe to say the loudness war has been over for at least 15 years, if there ever was such a war at all. or at least from personal experience records havent been made any louder during the past decade or so. some aggressive genres sometimes push the envelope, but this seems to have more to do with monitoring/listening level than competition. ^_^
