My first public mix: Francis Dunnery-Immaculate
#2
Fru,
Don't get caught up in the dollars and cents of the business. You are doing a great job and it doesn't matter how much equipment you throw at a song, it all comes down to the ears of the mixer and from what I am hearing, your ears are just fine. I think the key is just to listen. Listen to songs you like and practice getting those sounds or sounds similar to it. Your repertoire is unlimited. If you hear something you don't like in your mix, work on finding solutions to those particular issues. Listen on different speakers, listen at lots of different playback levels (a real key). I find the best mixes sound good at all levels from soft background to in your face loud. if you have crappy speakers, use phones or ear buds. If you don't have a car, find someone whose got a decent stereo in theirs and use their system to play it back. Create a Soundcloud or similar account so your mixes are transportable to any platform for playback.

Keep at it and post some other mixes.

Remember there is no right and wrong when mixing. Be bold and brash.
