Ikebe Shakedown - The Last Stand: my mix and master
#4
I guess we just have different taste. I grew up listening to old blues, soul and funk, so this music is close to my heart. It just sounds really fake to me when a mix relies too much on the close mics. Those transients poking out from the close mics of all the different instruments makes me hear any inconsistency in the performance and takes me out of the groove.

It's all subjective. "Unuseful noises" to you, is musical to me. There is no such thing as "audiophile modern standard". There is saturation and distortion all over modern music. It's all about making a compelling piece of art.
