For your first mix, you've done very well.
I like the guitar tones and reverb space around them. Works well with the guitar solo passages. Maybe some balance issues throughout though. Kick seems a little over powering and the guitar balance could be further refined, but overall nice. I think the snare could do with some extra weight around the 200 Hz area also. Well Done.
It easy to become overloaded with mixing tips and information. Sometimes it's just better to get stuck in, practice mixing and make lot's of mistakes. Get a copy of Mike Seniors Book "Mixing Secrets for the Small Studio" there's not much else you will need to know.
