Is your room on the reverberant side, by any chance? I'll tell you why I asked that question when and if you get the chance to reply

I have no idea. What I can tell you is that it is very small with no treatment. And being as far from ideal as one can get, my strategy to date to deal with it is to set up my near-fields (Focal cms40) on IsoAcoustic stands so that tweeters are at ear level. My listening position is the apex of a 65 cm equilateral triangle formed with my monitors (calibrated using pink noise, slow response and C-weighting). I then mix at a low level (60-65 dBSPL) using my HD600 as an alternative sound source. I generally keep mixing until i'm happy with both phones and monitors

Still feeling some harshness here. And I think there's some benefit in seeking more depth from the dynamics. They sound a bit congested to me, if I can be honest? Wondering if this is in some way contributing to the harshness in the vocals, which might imply the tracking isn't the source of the compression. Now I'm questioning myself about how much of the mix I'm hearing, or whether it's the master processing that's upsetting my abilities to assess the mix itself?
