I usually choose a ref mix from this forum that I think sounds great so I have a clear goal in front of me. I was using your latest version as a reference for my mix of this song - I think that says it all I really love this mix! There is not much I can say / write that would be of any help to you because for my ears there is nothing that sounds wrong, weird or harsh. When I compare my mix with your mix I think there is a tiny bit more movement/excitement in the drums in my mix, but that's probably just because my drums are louder.

I was thinking the same about the drums in my mix, for this kind of stuff I prefer a more ambient sound for the drums (it shouldn't be a surprise that Bonham's sound is my standard for rock drums ). Glad you liked the mix, I think where a lot of people go wrong on this track is trying to mix the bass so it sounds scooped out and squeaky clean, for this track you really need to make your bass tone more fuzzy and gritty (think of a guitar tuned down a full octave) so that it butts right up under the guitars and provides the anchor for the low end of the mix.

Just listen to some Tool, Karnivool, or Baroness, the bass tones on those records are almost like guitar tones with extra bottom end, I think once you nail that down the rest of the mix just falls into place. I've only gotten to listen to your new mix on my phone but even with the crap sounding speaker that's built in I can here a decent improvement overall, the drums all fit into the mix and are working with the ambient mics to fill the track out.
