Hammer Down

the bass has way too much low end and the guitars are too fizzy. I hate it when people kill all the mids in guitars, because what you will end up with is a mix that has no balls, no power, no movement. What was the reason to make the guitars so fizzy? There is nothing that fights the guitars in that region, the synths can be placed on top of the guitars easily. The vocals have enough room if you make a cut at 2.5 - 3.5khz in the rhythm guitars. Right now there is a huge hole in your mix and no other instrument that fills this hole. Don't make cuts in the low mids/mids because some guy on youtube told you that he always does this. That's stupid, use your ears. Do the rhythm guitars really mask anything when properly panned and balanced?

the melody guitars are drowning in reverb/delay. The vocals are way to loud in the first verse, and the delay/reverb is so much over the top that it is a distraction for the listener. There is too much high end fizz in the Overheads/Hihats and they sound unnatural - sounds like you made a low cut way up to 1k Smile

My advice would be: You have a good ear for balance, but you should try to get a good static mix first, without any fancy fx on the tracks. don't make crazy eq cuts and boosts, the tracks are already very balanced and don't need that much eq. as always you will get a better, less static and overhyped mix with less drastic eq cuts & boosts and more volume automation on each track. Of course you need some eq cuts and boosts to get the low end right and some more to make room for the vocals, but other than that I don't see why you should make so many drastic eq decisions?

have a good day,
Dirk
