Hi Grizwalter,
I think your mix is probably a bit hot. I downloaded into my DAW just to make sure, and the wave file certainly looks very busy, not necessarily squashed, but absolutely jammed packed with very little headroom.
I really liked the vocals, which were pretty clear, but the bass especially was extremely distorted. I know that the intro section has that distorted effect, but it seems a bit too much.
Try dialing back all your faders about 3 db, and maybe the bass& drums a touch more.
If you haven't done so already, make sure you calibrate your lovely new speakers to 83-85dbSPL at -20dBFS using -20dBFS Pink Noise
Good luck
HB, thought I'd check this out like I said, and here's what I found.
I compared the visual of the waveforms as well as the metering with everything left nominal. These two screenshots tell the story. In both, the Blue track is Cracker's song, Low (one of many tunes I used as a reference when Mastering Stitch-Up), and the yellow track is my Mix of Bobby Nobody.

As to my speaker calibration, there is still ONE thing I'm waiting for from Santa; a sound pressure level meter! I used to mix at 90dbSPL or thereabouts, but with the new 8" woofers on these babies, I'm still trying to get that sweet volume level solidified, going on instinct until Santa returns. Alternatively, the tooth fairy or Easter Bunny can feel free to drop by.
Thanks for the listen and feedback sir!
No Problemo
If you have a smart phone, you can get SPL meter apps. I use dB Volume by DSP mobile...its free (for the iphone). Whatever you use, just get one that has the C weighted function and slow response time.
I know what you mean about listening to ones own mix. I put my version of this song up two days ago and thought "you beauty...nailed that one". Had a listen with fresh ears today....awful! Had to take a blow torch to it!
Cheers

Hey Griz,
Totally understand where you're coming from - those graphics are almost identical - and it obviously sounds good at your end.
It could well be a speaker calibration issue - definitely worth checking one way or another.
As a comparison, when i listen to your mix, i have to cut my speaker gain 50% otherwise my windows will blow-out....lol
Cheers

That's funny! I don't know whether to be thrilled or miserable. I mean, it isn't every day that an audio engineer hears someone say their mix is LOUDER than the commercial releases!! LOL!
