Hi,
Thanks for posting. Overall, this mix seems "cooked" or overly mixed. It doesn't sound bad, but I wonder how well it would translate to various systems. What do you mix on? That said, I love the percussion sound - the verb seems to really make it move. I also love the delay on the second acoustic guitar going into the second chorus. The vocal is clear and sits well. It would benefit from some "air" on my monitors. I like to add some harmonics to vocals for that reason (many times it is better than adding EQ). I like Soundtoys decapitator of FabFilter Saturn. You kept most of the guitars centre and this mix translates very well in mono. Very well, actually. After a few listens, I can say that it is a great mix and would probably sound best if mastered. The lack of width might cause translation issues but it seems ok for me. I can hear the piano peaking through, both acoustics, etc. Good job. I wasn't so sure at the start of the first listen but it works! Care to share some of your though process? Thanks, CJC |
