We Fell From The Sky - Not You [OoF]
#1
Here's my mix for this song.

I kept the guitars and used the bass replacement method that Mike describes in its mix rescue. On top of that, I distorted the original, hi-passed signal and featured the mids to give character to the bass.

For the drums I kept the rooms, added a little amount of sample to the kick and bass, left the toms untouched.

For the voice, I wanted to bring it upfront aggressively. For the whispering part, I added some distortion, bit crushing, space and movement.

For this mix I tried to run it through 2 parallel compressors, a Focusrite RED type and a SSL type. There are also some analog emulations to add some distortion and character.

I tried to give the most radio sound I could, trying to get the right amount of shine and aggressiveness. Let me know how you feel about it.

Hey man!

You did a great job here, but for my rookie ears the drums feel a little dry, they need more aggressiviness. And I'm feeling like the bass is taking the space of the guitars and they sound under the bass in my headphones. I like you bass tone a lot. I didn't read the Mix Rescue article, but I'll try to do that in my second run of that mix.

I'm an amateur musician and producer, so don't take me too seriously.
Here you have my other mixes!

Boxy... watch out for the 300 Hz region in the bass guitar. A short delay on the vocal probably wouldn't go amiss either.
I think the bass is washing things out a big. May improve after the aforementioned EQ tweak though. I'd go for a somewhat "rougher" voice sound in the verse to try to match the aggressiveness of the music.
