Fairytale - BoyRacer - 13-10-2014 My attempt. ...Listened to some of the other work and decided I didn't like mine, so I did a do-over. RE: Fairytale - thedon - 15-10-2014 Hi there Boy Racer ! I'm struggling with this mix and would love some input ! listening to your mix on headphones at the moment , the cymbals drum room and overhead track sound a little bright in the top end I ended up using a low pass filter at around 8 k and a little parametric notching to get the sound to taste and de-essing on the vocals . Good job ! RE: Fairytale - BoyRacer - 16-10-2014 Hey, thanks for your input thedon. I thought this one was a little too heavy on the guitars, so I pulled EleGtr1 out and only brought it back in for the verses. I like to put a little bump on each drum at about 2k - 5k to get some emphasis on the attack. The accumulation may explain some harshness at the high end. Perhaps I should sub-mix the kit and put a little eq to the whole to tame things a bit. I phase inverted the drum room track, not sure if I was imagining it, but I thought the snare came through a little clearer that way. |
