Just simply great song to mix! - MystycalFanfare - 03-12-2013

I love this band! Very unfortunate for their disbanded.

Here's my mix, and hopefully you guys could give some feedback.

Thanks!

Not bad.

I dunno about that 80's chorusy/flange effect you've added to the guitar. I know, it's a subjective thing, but I have generally found that guitar players are pretty picky about their tone and spend a lot of time to get it where they want it. As a creative decision to benefit the song, sure, systematically altering a guitar tone or adding additional FX to it is pretty commonplace, but I don't think the mix really gains anything from your particular treatment here since the original tones were pretty badass and better fit the vibe of the song IMO.

Also, a bit of editing of the tracks would have been nice, but I completely understand why one would not want to go through the time and effort to do that for an unpaid mix showcase.

Hey thanks for comment here, I appreciate it.

The guys from band must have been spent time for great tone, indeed, but I found is hard to get right to mix when it's only one track of rhythm guitar, I just can't, that's why I much appreciate guys who did great mix with only one rhythm guitar track. *cheers*
So what I did is just simply using doubler plugin (waves doubler) to make the guitar track sitting in different position from vocal.

But once again thanks for take a listen and share your thought. I appreciate it.

Love the overall sound and balance of your mix. There's a real sense of space and creamy smoothness to the sound.

The only thing i would say, and its a very personal subjective choice, is that i think there's a strong resonance on the snare at about 800Hz. Makes it sound quite "tonky".

In the scheme of things, its a small detail, 'cos overall I love how you've brought the drums into the mix.

really nice job
