Triviul Dorothy (Cadian Mix) - Cadian - 24-01-2020
This collection of songs is some of the most fun I've had in mixing so far! The multitracker style of recording ended up being a creative inspiration in my mixing process.
Dorothy is my favorite from this collection. The musical ideas and character was so inspiring I spent way more time that I normally would on animating sends, effects, and volume throughout the track. My absolute favorite effect on this is the ping pong pan on the harp in the 3rd verse.
Though Mike lists the vinyl crackle as a challenge we might face, I leaned into it full-force. The organ part that comes in half way through the "kiddie-style" vocal I passed through a saturator incredibly hot. It ended up being almost entirely crackle when it came out, but I think it adds so much to the feel of the section.
I mixed all the tracks from the "I Am A Musician" selection available, please take a listen to them too
