Mystery voelund - Voelund - 16-10-2013

Had fun makin arrangement for this verse/chorus only multitrack.
Added a Miles muted trumpet and a funky apple loop, and moved things around.
Duno if I overdid the LP scratchy thing, but it were fun to do and the choir parts fitted when moved, at least to my old ears.
Happy listnin and throw a comment if you have the time Big Grin

wow!!! GREAT!!!

RE: Mystery voelund - Voelund - 18-10-2013

Thank you Don and Juan. Turns out I have more ideas and are workin on a 2nd version, the chorus girls can transform into yet another line if I cut an ending out and some guitar and horn parts may be added. Inspiration is one of the best things in life Big Grin

RE: Mystery voelund - juanjose1967 - 18-10-2013

that's something that I still have to develop in order not to make such standard mixes: inspiration!!

RE: Mystery voelund - Voelund - 18-10-2013

One thing I find very inspiring Juan is to create a new doubletrack from parts moved from other places in the song, or findin use for parts somewhere else. Listen to the reggae one where I found the guitar missed in the outro and tried a little copy paste and with a few muted parts it fitted so well.
Today I started mixin "Rothko", last one of the POP songs in downloads.
It has so many obvious parts for movin and usin as reinforcements, the electric rhythm guitar for example, can be doubled fairly easily and it creates a much bigger spectrum of sound and dynamics.
I hope you will let yourself try these oppurtunitys one day - and dont be afraid to experiment or try new things. Its fun Big Grin

Great mix Voelund!

You make me feel ''thats how it have to sound''!
You did great eq on the noiz, sits perfectly in the song and gives the feeling it have to give!
Now, for my personal taste, i would made the vocals huge, with some parallel comp and some more eq to make them shine,
for example something like massive attacks song paradise circus.

You give us some ear candies dude, thanks!

RE: Mystery voelund - Voelund - 31-10-2013

A humble thank you.
And it was fun workin on it too.
Duno about bigger vocals though, if I revisit the mix I have some ideas for more instruments added, but I heard it in the car (on my iphone speaker) and it worked better than I remembered.
Thinkin about it the vocals were a bit dark on the phone, so they deserve some work, I´ll have your idea of parallel comp in mind if I get to it.
Thank you !

hey man nice work, im working in the same songo also. Like the sound of the clav, but im hearing in your mix the same thing as in mines.. i have the feeling that the original tracks are a little too much muddy, like without mid range, what do you think about that..
Like the in front of vocalss..
