I'm learning mixing, would like to take some advices - gallon_of_pcp - 07-05-2019

Hello everyone! I'm a beginner in mixing. This track is like the 5th track that i mixed. Would like to have some criticism and advices and overall opinions. Thanks!

Right out of the gate, I hear too much compression. There is pumping and ducking going on whenever there's a lot of low end energy (for example, low tom roles are causing everything to duck out). I would relax on the compression a bit and also, maybe, shorten their release times. Also, the low end is a bit too boomy and needs taming. The vocals are buried in the mix. I find myself straining to hear them. Otherwise, not bad at all for a beginner. You're on the right track for sure.

I don't have the time to listen right now but that's a quality user name.
