IKEBE SHAKEDOWN LAST STAND DIR MIX - deadislandrecords - 23-02-2019

Enjoy! Had a lot of fun mixing this in a couple of hours that flew by...

Some notes:
- Threw an SSL Channel strip on every track just to get a unified console feel out of the mix
- The only direct compression used was on the sax through the SSL strip; all other compression was low-ratio setting on returns
- Loved how beefy I was able to get the drums - part of that certainly has to do with Telefunken engineering the session - especially coinciding with the bass. Speaking of which, I actually made something that I normally do with rock tracks work on the bass here... listen closely on headphones and you'll be able to catch it
- Wish I spent more time on the horns but it's a quick mix, so whatever they're bearable at least
- This was also mixed through my Dangerous Music DBox, so if you were curious how analog summing sounds, here's your sample!
- There's minimal mix-buss work done: SSL Buss Comp on the sum path, Pultec Legacy EQ & Ozone 8 Maximizer on the master

Any comments/questions are always welcome

Lacks punch. Transients all but gone in your offering. Very distant sounding as a result.
