Mix by Zbat - Zbat - 09-02-2019 Hi, I had a go at this song because I liked the voice, and the vibe of the song, there's a bit of a Jeff Buckley thing going on which is cool. I felt like the main thing here was the voice, so it's a bit in your face, there's chain compression to get that crispy tone in the voice which is cool + there's a lot of volume changes and I'm not a fan of riding the volume for vocals throughout the song. I kind of wish he had managed the distance with the mic a bit better too. The issue then is trying to get smooth vocals with a de-esser but keeping that vibe, not sure if it was achieved well. Not a massive fan of the drum sounds, I wish it had been recorded with proper acoustic drums and with more groove because I like what the drums are doing and the tribal part is cool so put the drums forward as well. The guitars are a bit thin, I used panning to get them to almost act like strings or pad, they are a tiny bit behind but I think it fits the song, not sure. I'd love some feedback, please let me know what you think! Thanks a lot! Quentin |
