Secretariat: 'Over The Top' (critiques plz) - LukasL - 01-08-2018 Hey guys, this is my mix of Secretariat: 'Over The Top'. I wanted a drum sound with lots of ambience but still enough smack. Lots of compression and saturation gave me the sound i was looking for. It might be a bit much though... As for the guitars. I wanted darker, low-mid beefy guitars. Boosted 500Hz quite a bit. Normally a "boxy" frequency but it worked here. Vocals on the other hand sat in the high-end of the freq sepctrum. (5db high-shelf). And a ton of compression on the vocal, mainly to even out the chages in volume. (Yay, parallel compression) Bass a bit of tape, eq, and comp. Not much. Hammond, just eq and chorus. BG vocals with a doubler and compression. Thats it. Overall I think the mix might be to compressed and it should breath more. Please leave feedback. Cheers, Lukas RE: Secretariat: 'Over The Top' (critiques plz) - 79 Music Studio - 26-11-2018 Nice mix man! Did you use parallel compression only in vocals or in everything? RE: Secretariat: 'Over The Top' (critiques plz) - LukasL - 26-11-2018 Hey there, thank you for your comment. I cant remember what I did here exactly but I often use Parallel Compression on Vocals and Drums. To be honest I almost always use the same preset for TDR Kotelnikov by TDR Labs. It's called "Smasher" and I often blend it 50/50. If I want less agressivness I slow the release down and or blend more of the dry signal in. Hope that helped Cheers, Lukas |
