Actions - Devil's Words (mix by AJ) - alexjeffriesproducer - 10-07-2018
Hi all,
This is one of the standout tracks on this site for me.
I managed to get a rough mix together rather quickly and then went to town on automation and FX to add that classic Pop Punk sound! (I had a lot of fun)
Ended up layering some samples over the drums to thicken them up, particularly the Kick which was just a trigger click!
I'm still learning my sound so if you have any feedback positive or negative, please feel free to comment.

Hey alexjeffriesproducer!
It sounds to me that you've pushed a limiter pretty hard at the mastering stage, am i right? If you listen to your mix before and after at the same volume it will most likely sound better before you've compressed it. Trading dynamics for loudness is almost never a good idea, for my taste at least.
There's some annoying bass frequencies at 150-200hz that i would cut and also i would also look over the mids and low mids of the guitars. Maybe boost some high mids on them.
Other than that it sounds really good! Keep it up!

Thanks for your feedback! I did hit the limiter a little harder than normal on this track (to fit with that modern Pop Punk sound), and I agree on reflection it was possibly a touch too much. If I get some spare time I may re-visit this mix in the near future to look over the Bass/Guitars properly. I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment
