James May: 'Eliza Jane' - thedon - 01-04-2017 Lovely song . Here is version 1 version 2 Didn't want to mute the mandolin , put it further back in the room along withe the backing vocals and organ ,work in progress to make the sense of space more believable ! Cheers RE: James May: 'Eliza Jane' - juanjose1967 - 02-04-2017 Lovely mix and song, Don! The only thing I missed was a little bit warmth in the guitars in the intro. In the rest of the song, I think they're ok because then they would be interfering with the vocals and other instruments, so with a little of automated EQ, you can fix that minor issue... Well done! Thanks for having a listen , listening back after your comments will try the automated eq trick great idea. Thanks . RE: James May: 'Eliza Jane' - kapu - 04-04-2017 Great intimate sound! I'm sensing some experimentation with sat/dist/clipping. The overall tone might be a bit middle rangish - nothing little abusive maul-the-band compression in the master could't take care of. Once again you've nailed it. ^_^ RE: James May: 'Eliza Jane' - thedon - 04-04-2017 (04-04-2017, 03:31 AM)kapu Wrote: Great intimate sound! I'm sensing some experimentation with sat/dist/clipping. Once again you've nailed it. ^_^ You are right ,I added maserati grp plugin to the master bus which is enhansing some subtle distortion on the multitracks . Cheers RE: James May: 'Eliza Jane' - Olli H - 08-04-2017 Balances just perfect to me. Internally pretty coherent mix. I agree with Kapu’s comment about mid-ranginess. Is there in vox a bit too much saturation? Personnally I’d like to hear a bit fuller or "selling" vox in this song, for this feels like "man with a voice" recording. Tremolo effect with mandolin (for example around 1:08) could be a bit softer. Now it takes a focus away from vox. Cheers RE: James May: 'Eliza Jane' - Damian Oakes - 10-04-2017 It sounds good, but maybe automate the mandolin. It's bit much at times. Thanks for having a listen , yes i agree and also have to use to mute button more. Cheers RE: James May: 'Eliza Jane' - Dangerous - 10-04-2017 The drums lock the rhythm in nicely. Well played. You could try and side chain the mandolin around the vocal with a big RMS setting on a compressor. This approach works well and ducks quite naturally. Dave |
