Zeno : Signs - foleybeats - 08-12-2016

interesting song with plenty of stuff to work with, struggled with the kick though.

any comments welcome.

cheers

RE: Zeno : Signs - Roy - 08-12-2016

Here's what jumps out at me.
-I think part of what might be making the kick difficult for you is it fighting with the floor tom. You could think the tom out a little and pan it as you would a floor tom and it'd open up the center of the kick drum. In the chorus and bridge the kick sounds fine. It may have too much low end but I can't judge that accurately on earbuds. You could probably use less of the Sub track.
-The more I listen the more I think more/wider panning might help open the song up in general.
-The vocals sound good but are getting obscured a bit.

It's not bad. Mostly it lacks clarity. Partially due to elements crowding together in the image and partially due to some low mid 'tubbiness'. Keep at it.

cheers for the feedback mate, much appreciated

I've had another run at it and tidied up the low end and got some width into the mix as well.

good call with the floor tom. i thought i had panned it a bit but didnt.

worked on the vocals a bit too, they were getting swamped in the chorus, but sorted now

overall sounding much better i think
