The Long Wait- Back Home To Blue - Father Dougal Maguire - 28-10-2016 I think this is the 4th complete mix I've done, so looking forward to getting some feedback on my progress. RE: The Long Wait- Back Home To Blue - Father Dougal Maguire - 28-10-2016 I've just noticed that I forgot to account for the snare sample when the drums are doing side stick! D'OH! Rookie behaviour, that. RE: The Long Wait- Back Home To Blue - Mixinthecloud - 28-10-2016 The sounds are generally fair but it seems the mix is disjointed. Nothing gluing it together. The kick and bass seem a bit thumpy. I know the drums on this track were very incomplete but I don't think a replacement was needed for the snare which makes it even more disjointed. Intonation of the guitars and bass is also a bit suspect and may be attributable to a chorus effect in the original track which makes it even more difficult to mix. RE: The Long Wait- Back Home To Blue - Father Dougal Maguire - 28-10-2016 Thanks for the feedback! RE: The Long Wait- Back Home To Blue - Father Dougal Maguire - 29-10-2016 When you talk about glue what do you think would help? Would it be a short reverb? Slightly more compression on the master bus? Altering some of the EQ? I'all try the tweaks to the drums that you suggest too. RE: The Long Wait- Back Home To Blue - Father Dougal Maguire - 29-10-2016 OK, for this revision I did the following: - Added a short room reverb and sent a lot of the instruments to it. - Adjusted my 2 buss compressor to make it more grabby. - Took the sample off the snare, tweaked the EQ and re-sat. - Pulled the bass guitar and kick drum back a bit. Interested to know what you think. |
