Camilla Francesca Bull: Mozart's Voi Che Sapete - jeffd42 - 21-10-2016

A most impressive vocal performance.

Going for more of a chamber, rather than concert hall, feel here.

(I knew those QL Spaces IRs would come in handy someday!)

I'll add a few production notes here:

1) Most of the sound is the Main Pair (would love to know what mic was used). A QL Spaces EW Studio 1 TS FR 1.8sec reverb (default settings) creates a little more air around the vocal and piano.

2) Selected the U47 spot for vocal. There is a C4 doing some slight compression of the midrange (1-2db). A broad, shallow EQ boost of 3.5db centered on 6KHz (Q0.2). QL Spaces Normal Plate 14 ST 2.3sec, with 30ms predelay, and the Slate FG-MU (not compressing, it's just there for tone).

3) Piano spot is dry, but has a low shelf boost of 4.5db at 315Hz and 7db high shelf boost at 4.5KHz. I felt that was needed that to counterbalance the vocal properly.

And that's it... less processing and fewer plugins than anything else I've mixed Smile
