Street Noise: 'I'd Rather Be Drinkin'' - thedon - 26-07-2016

Here is Version 1 ,Spent about an hour so far.
Used my Cd of Harry Connick Jnr To Love the language as a guide.

Version 2 has less bass and more piano.

Cool mix!
The kick is sometimes too much, but in this style do not really want to compress itHuh
I liked piano's place in mix.

I really like your bass sound, although you might turn it a bit down? Did you use multiband compression or what? Solid mix!

Really Solid Don. I've just come across from listening to "Omar & The Howlers" (A similar Style) with a smooth transition. Love the guitar tone and the vocal is sitting real nice. Piano could come up a bit where featured in free space maybe, pretty minor thing though. Well done. Not too much left to do.

Nice mix Don! The bass really sound fat and deep! I think the piano solo needs to come up in the mix some for it to be heard better but otherwise really clean sounding mix! Their vocalist actually reminds me of a local bluesman in my area, Dennis Parker, which is really cool, here's a link to one of his tracks https://soundcloud.com/denisparker/where-warm-winds-blow-1

Hi DCP,
Definitely the piano needs more automation in version 2.
I think the bass needs to be tamed a touch.
also I forgot to unmute the tom tracks Blush
I am going to have a listen out Denis Parker .
Thanks for the feedback

I agree the bass is a too heavy, to try to get similar bass tone to my reference track I done a dip between 100hz and 2 k with the centre frequency of around 900hz -12db and used Waves Bass Rider,L3a and CLA bass plugin.
Thanks for the feedback.
cheers.
