Don't Let The Devil Take Your Mind - EKN Mix - EKN - 05-06-2016

I mixed this song back in 2014 when it was featured as an Indaba mixing contest, so I thought I should share it here.
It was (then) my first time mixing a live recording and I discovered the joys and pains of mic bleeding.
I tried to get a tight mix while still keeping a live feel.

Happy listening !
Erick

Sound very good to me. Very live sound and still strong and breathing. I like especially drums+bass.

Personnally I would rather have a bit more focused vox sound. Now it’s quite far in the soundstage. But that's just me today. Tomorrow I may prefer this distant vox.

Thank you for the feedback Olli !

I've mixed this song a long time ago, so I can only guess/remember that I may have made the choice to keep the voice at that distance for the live feel I was after.

Deep inside this. Feels like I'm on stage. Good sounds and balance. Great live feel. I like the audience rise in the break. Good capture of the performance. Something odd with the cymbals in the guitar solo though. A compression artifact?
