I think you are on the right track.
*Bass is very thin sounding. The natural recording sounds great like it is.
*Overal eq on the mix is very bright. almost sounds like the mids were carved out. Perhaps your monitors are causing this problem?
Keep it up.. I'm sure you can improve it.

the mids are one of my problems.
I'm going to try to change the setting of the eq or the monitors
