Had some fun with this one. Not sure if it belongs in the hip hop/rnb category but... Have a listen and leave a comment and I will do the same for one of your mixes. I listen on Adam A7 and Shure mdr7520 mostly.
Cheers!

I don't know what it is, but I think it is a guitar distortion type effect that vocals are battling. Vocals are also battling shakers. It was a cool idea to add reverb to lead vocals but it doesn't stand out in mix.

Hey mingus,
Good Mix! The guitar distortion was a good idea. I think being subtle is the key to pulling it off. Remember, we don't want to distract the listener from our key elements. In this case our key element would be the vocals in my opinion. Also it's good practice to EQ our effects so that they are doing what we intended as they tend to add unwanted artifacts to the sound in some cases. Your drums sound great. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to hearing more of your work.
