After I gave it a close listen to after bringing into Reaper I wondered if I should maybe scrap it and look for another project, because I usually have a project fit the grid nicely and make edits and stuff easily.
I loved the momentum of the song and I wanted to see what I could do with it. My approach to mixing is probably way to uncontrolled and in a flurry. I grab a plugin and start playing around and soon I have 20 or 30 plugins and then I deal with it for better or worse. I'm learning not to second guess myself so much and just accept my style as my style.
