I've been a musician for well over 20 years, studied classical Double Bass in college, and teach Elementary General Music and Elementary through High School Orchestra and Strings in the Public School.
I have a pretty simple and non ideal setup (my mixing desk, as well as most of my gear is built into a wide, shallow, reflection-treated closet that is open to the living room) but it seems to do the job for now (I don't notice anything really way out there in my mixing and monitoring):
- Behringer Truth B2031A Monitors (in the corners of the closet, facing out into the room where I sit, with the room response setting engaged - yes, this is terrible for monitoring, but c'est la vie)
- Pro Tools 10
- Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (my new baby!!)
- Toshiba Satellite laptop (my wife's computer - she lets me use it! it's not ideal by any stretch, but it's all we've got and a new machine with enough power to really run with mixing is not in the cards any time in the near future)
I am loving being a part of this community, and have learned so much over the past six months I feel like I should be paying you all tuition (would have to sell a kidney for that though). I'd really like to get good at this. |
